Mr Ran Li offers the full range of breast and oncoplastic surgery procedures, as well as general surgery procedures.
Breast conservation surgery
The vast majority of patients with breast cancer are able to avoid a mastectomy, with equal or better long term cancer and psychological outcomes.
Mr Li has a special interest in performing oncoplastic breast conservation surgery for tumours that would traditionally require a mastectomy (see Gallery for case examples).
Mastectomy and reconstruction
For patients who need or choose to have a mastectomy, the majority would be suitable for an immediate reconstruction.
Mr Li offers both implant and autologous reconstruction and does not charge a gap if you have private hospital cover.
Axillary lymph node surgery
Axillary surgery options have changed significantly in recent years, resulting in fewer long term problems without compromising cancer treatment and outcomes.
Mr Li offers the full range of lymph node surgery including sentinel node biopsy, complete axillary clearance, targeted axillary dissection. He also performs combined procedures with plastic surgeons to offer lymphovascular bypass – a new technique which may reduce the incidence of lymphoedema in select patients.
Cosmetic revision surgery
Some patients are unfortunately left with poor cosmetic outcomes after their initial breast surgery. Revisional surgery can be challenging, but offers hope for a more satisfactory long term cosmetic result.
Benign breast surgery
Benign breast diseases usually do not require surgery, but sometimes diagnostic procedures are required to ensure the lesion is completely benign.
Breast reduction
Breast reductions can be performed for cosmesis, developmental asymmetry or to alleviate symptoms resulting from large, heavy breasts.
High risk services
Patients with strong family history or high risk breast cancer gene carriers should be appropriately counselled in regards to screening, risk reduction medications and risk reduction surgery.
General and laparoscopic surgery
Mr Li offers the full range of general surgery procedures including laparoscopic (keyhole) and open hernia surgery, gall bladder surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, skin and melanoma surgery.
He partakes in the emergency surgery and trauma on call roster at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
